Philosophies under Jeong-Do Management
Back in the period when everyone was starving and food was a means of gratifying hunger, our Founder Kang Joong-Hee pleased people visiting his home by serving cooked rice out of a cauldron or, as said in Korean, Gamasot.
Never forgetting the benevolences the founder’s cauldron produced, Dong-A Socio Group has developed its own management philosophy of Jeong-Do Management. While many Korean enterprises believes in what the philosophy of Jeong(正; righteousness)-Do(道; path) has got, Dong-A Socio Group found the value of embracement by interpreting Jeong(⿍; cauldron)-Do in a more socio-friendly manner, commemorating what the founder’s cauldron presented back then. The Group’s Jeong-Do spirit spans generations as the incumbent honorary chairman Kang Shin-ho emphasized the corporate social responsibilities based on the Group’s three core values – Jeong-do, sincerity and solicitude – and established the Group’s core philosophy that still stands today when he took his first presidency in 1975. More specifically, the Group has stayed responsible for its employees, society, government, shareholders and consumers. By offering welfares, benefits and opportunities that the employees deserve, developing drugs while staying responsible for the environment to contribute to the society, staying true to the corporate social responsibilities to contribute to the state economy, taking both profits and transparency into account for the shareholders’ sake, and providing the consumers with quality goods and services, the Group has established a ‘virtuous circle’ of staying responsible for the society while benefiting the interested parties, as practically evidenced by the incumbent chairman Kang Jeong-seok who led the Group to be certified with ISO 26000 (Guidance on Corporate Social Responsibility) and proclaim the modern-day Jeong-Do Management in 2018 to further stay responsible for the society by having Human rights, Eenvironment, Compliance and Consumers centered and CSR under sustainability-friendly and pro-social attitudes.
